c-virus/red ring : The red ring or more popularly known as the c-virus is a pitiful attempt of warfare advancement. This virus or "weapon" affects all DNA it makes contact with. It reanimates the cells of the organisms living tissue. In the beginning of this reanimation process the infected organism degenerates until deceased. Then the reanimation process begins. Common symptoms of the infected are "red rings". Red rings is when the infected organism's optics produce large levels of puss and attract blood flow towards the sclera causing drowsiness, shell shock, and tunnel vision. The virus also forces the optics to evolve a secondary pupil. This synthetic pupil is unlike any other recorded data. It forms in the iris as a ring like shape around the already existent pupil as a modifier to the existent pupil. This secondary pupil supposedly magnifies vision in unknown manners to benefit "it's hunt". Another common symptom of the c-virus is the decrease of availability of cerebral usage. This allows the infected to no longer have opinions or thoughts of any situation that have past or that occur. Also, the infected most commonly will endure hair loss, skin bleaching, nasal swelling, and change in hair pigmentation due to unknown side effects. Some exceptions to these symptom may be caused by unnatural genetic mutations.




Mutation : Because of the c-viruses prematurity, there are many flaws in its design. If over excessively concentrated into living tissue, the c-virus is very likely to cause unnatural genetic mutations. These mutations most often act as an accelerated evolution of the organism. These evolutions occur to benefit and ensure the 2 main objectives of the infected. Firstly, the organism adapts to its environment extremely well, sometimes even infusing itself with its surroundings for better manipulation and mobility. Secondly, the organism's only purpose is to feed and will constantly do so. all mutations will occur to better the organisms "need to feed".




Purpose : The c-virus has only one key purpose. Created by the D.P.(Die pest), an organization of underground German government scientists that were working on red ring, basically an organic EMP. Once the Germans archived the virus, they deployed red ring on a population then after wards selected a few hundred for the D.P. special forces. The infected would serve as a vessel for an even more destructive force, the P.A.I.(prime artificial intelligence). These P.A.I were the most optimal AI ever conceived by any military world wide. The P.A.I serves as an artificial intelligence matching that of a human accept for the inconvenience of mans "free will". When inserted into the B.I.S.(bio interceptor suit) this chip can simultaneously and instantaneously give and receive military information and commands from the other P.A.I. to the organism. the B.I.S. serves as the infected's bio-suit to preform maintenance for both the organism and the P.A.I.. This suit is completely self reliant and needs no external maintenance. The P.A.I is fairly small and requires little memory storage thanks to the B.I.S.. The B.I.S. harvests the organisms body and uses all of the organisms parts as its own. The most critical organ required is the cerebrum. This serves as the main hard drive of the P.I.A. and without it can not function properly. If detached or damaged the P.I.A. will be immediately disabled causing all mechanical portions of the soldier to seize. This most often causes the organism to become deceased or occasionally can result with further genetic mutations or even "the berserk". The berserk is when the soldier's mechanics seize and cause serge's with adrenaline causing the organism to revert back to a wild primal state.




The Overmind : Several of the infected, like early single celled organisms, joined as a hole creating a prime infected mass. This mass is known as The Overmind because of its great telepathic link with all infected. The Overmind, unlike other infected, has the ability to access its mind. This is because the genetic mutation and fusion of the bio-forms caused all the minds to fuse and become a new mind, altered out side of the infected's basic symptoms of brain connectivity. The Overmind serves as the mind of the infected, the influence. From coordinates unknown, it is constantly sending and receiving information to and from other infected. This Overmind is what gives form and organization to the infected and can manipulate the infected's mutation. The Overmind has two forms of infected, the dense (non sentient) and the apt (sentient). The dense are controlled and maintained by Pierre. The apt are controlled and maintained by Patches.
